BITTER SWEET JAMAICA
If there is one thing that I hope I will never be called is a "Hypocrite". I want to be known as the woman who called a spade a spade and this country a dump. Sorry...I have not been known to be very patriotic and I know I should be, considering the situation here in our little island. But I have tried hard and I can't.
There are days when I really wonder if the so called "smarter" Heads of Government really care for the people who they so eagerly run after seeking their votes. Its election time again here and i think it is the same time in the Americas. The only difference I believe is that your candidates are not going around cursing each other in a brawling manner while on the campaign trail. This really bothers some of us here in Jamaica.
When our own dear Prime Minister gets up on a platform and says of the Opposition "Don't Draw Mi Tongue"...what exactly is a little common citizen like myself to think. I have never been one to mingle with loud and obnoxious people and that is exactly what she (yes we have a woman for the Prime Minister) sounds like and it is really shameful.
The terminology "Don't Draw Mi Tongue" is a phrase my grandmother and mother used to say when they wanted us to stop arguing with them. We always knew that when this phrase was repeated that there was nothing good that would come thereafter and whatever we were doing we would promptly stop. But to hear the Prime Minister The Right Honorable Portia Simpson-Miller utter those words from her mouth on a platform addressing the Jamaican people, the same people from who she is seeking their votes, is down-right shameful.
There should be a mandate for how they are to address public gathering. I mean, they have a mandate for everything, why not a mandate for this too.

Then on to the issue of this crime thing which has increased so much since the Prime Minister announced the date for elections. People are dropping like rain drops in the rainy season. And people are getting killed because of their political affiliation. Imagine that.
If I wear a Green blouse out to do my own business in a community that is mostly PNP (and they Red) then I stand the chance of not getting out of there alive or better yet with a cap in my wherever...It has happened and is happening almost every day here. I am not a patriotic person like I said before and if you ask me where is a great vacation spot I will not tell you to come to Jamaica and feel alright. Because frankly, YOU WON'T FEEL ALRIGHT having to watch your back at every turn. Go some place else until this political heat wears off. Enjoy the summer in one of our other Caribbean islands that's not as bad as here.
I know, but what will happen to our tourism industry? I would ask you one question "WHAT TOURISM INDUSTRY?" Like I said this government has run our little to the dumps and the opposing party is no better.
All I can say is pray that our dear Parliamentary Officials have a change of heart and brain power and develop some sort of virtue.
There are not a lot of Jamaicans who read my blog and I really hope that one day my readership will increase and that our politically blinded Jamaicans will open their eyes to some open minded criticism of the members of Parliament that they so wholeheartedly follow and lust after...

A WEEKEND MESSAGE
No I am not a religious fanatic and I do not claim to know much about the Bible, but I do not want this blog to be only about me and I need everyone to know that I am a religious person (just not a fanatic).I am, however, a Seventh Day Adventist. You may or may not have heard about us by now. We were once known as a sect in society but we have earned our right to be called a legitimate religion- at least in some circles.
We study a series of Bible lessons during the week and I want to share them with you and will only do so on the weekends starting this Friday night and every Friday night after. I don't want to burden or bore anyone.
I will however stray just for this week:
1 John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous..."
This text basically gives us a kind of shield and fence from the temptations of the Devil. It lets us know that it is OK to fall short (sin) sometimes and that things like that will happen. And just like a criminal has a lawyer to defend him in court when he is guilty, we also have the Lord's Son, Jesus Christ, to defend us to His Father in heaven when we fall short of His Commandments.
He does not turn from us and leave us to perish. No, no, no, that is not our Saviour. Christ prayed and is still praying for us. He was tempted in all points like as we are , and having been tempted, He knows how to soothe and plea for those who are tempted.
Our crucified Lord is pleading for us in the presence of the Father at the Throne of Grace. He is making intercession for the most lowly, the most oppressed and suffering, for the most tried and tempted ones.
It is not about the religious group that we belong to. Those things will not save us. And it is not about how many times we go to confession. The Priest cannot save us. We have to come to Jesus on our own and ask Him to help. If we are in the habit of using a middle man (eg. a Priest or Pastor) then maybe the message will get lost along the way. Carry the plea yourself. Its quite easy. Like talking to your best friend on the phone. And its even easier than that, because Jesus already knows why you are coming to Him, all He wants to know is that you came and that you are eager to be saved.
Think about this over the weekend as we enjoy what the Lord has in store for us. And personally, I don't care where you worship. I always say, study the Bible for yourself. You cannot depend on man to give you the complete message.

I just cant figure out how to get this onto the blog, so i put it here. Its a great site that I found quite by chance because i have tried to remember how I got there and I can't. Try it. Its for both men and women who are parents. There are lots of experienced people there and most of them are really nice. I found alot of friends there and I am still making more than i have ever made in my 27 years of life. More to come...
MY PRIDE AND JOY
This is my pride and joy. The reason I wake up in the mornings and the reason I work 24 hours a day to be with him and to cater for his every whim.
But there comes a time when all that I can take is just too little. He is teething again and I am afraid, not in a peaceful manner either.
This picture was take n when he was just three (3) months old and he was an angel then. But now that he is almost 2 (in September), I am now of the belief that the Devil has somehow passed his hand over my angelic child.
I know all the books say that all you can do is to just hold them and soothe them and so on. But be practical here for a moment.
He cries to the point where I get migraines...Dang!
And I still love him. How does that work?
He is a darling though. He will come to me out of the blue and say "Mommie, Lub You!" then lay a wet one on me and then its right back to square one. But I wouldn't change the way he is for the world. He is my angel, my miracle. MY GOD SENT!!!
